SCFS is looking for a “Fitness Assistant/Apprentice” to join our team.

WORKING WEEK:

Part Time, 6-14 hours, TBA

WAGE:

National Minimum Wage To Your Age Category.

REQUIREMENTS

We are entering a hiring phase and your qualification and experience level is NOT important.

This role has came about due to a member of staff needing to head onto pastures new with full time hours and we cannot offer any more than part time work at this time.

You will need to be FULLY FLEXIBLE over 7 days.

Shifts spread around 6.30am – 9pm weekdays and will include opening in the mornings, afternoons, closing in the evenings and also weekends between 9am and 3pm, bank holidays too.

GCSE grade C or above for Maths English & Science (We will require copies)

You’ll need to agree for us to complete a basic DBS disclosure because we are attached to a comprehensive school.

THE VACANCY

This is a fantastic opportunity to start a Fitness Instructing career.

The ideal candidate will have the enthusiasm and meet the requirements – to start with an NVQ Level 2 in Fitness Instructing and progress on to a NVQ Level 3 in Personal Training.

As an assistant in the gym you will develop your fitness skills, experience and learn on the job.

Applicants must have a passion for health & fitness.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills to communicate with our wide demographic of customers and be technology/computer literate and express excellent customer service skills.

Day to day tasks will include general housekeeping, cleaning (including toilets & showers), tidying, answering the phone and taking messages, responding to enquiries on social media, serving and selling products and services. It is expected that you have the ability to work within a team but also be independent with your daily tasks and show initiative with club operations and gym member customer service. There is always tasks to do.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Learning how to create progressive personal exercise plans for members
  • Demonstrating exercises and workouts for members to follow
  • Showing members how to use exercise machines and free weights correctly
  • In line with health and safety, supervise members to make sure they are exercising safely and effectively
  • When on duty act as a point of contact for members, dealing with any problems or concerns
  • Complete health and safety checks as and when directed
  • Be the point of contact for new members, taking them through the application process from start to finish, including tours
  • General housekeeping duties, making sure the gym is kept cleaned, disinfected and tidy at all times
  • Make sure that all members adhere to the gym rules AT ALL TIMES
  • Attend meetings with the Manager as and when requested
  • Maintain a high level of commitment to your studies and share your progress with the Manager
  • Ensure that the high standard work dress code is adhered too and maintain a good level of personal hygiene
  • Take part in any promotional activities to help us get more gym members
  • Any other reasonable task as directed by the Manager/Shift Manager
