I see a mental illness crisis and a nation of people pretty miserable and unhappy.
A lot is out of our hands.
But there’s also a lot that you don’t need to accept….
You can control what you can control.
And you can control the choices you make, the products you buy with your own money – and your habits.
🌅 Morning Alarm: You’re up! But did you know the very sheets and pajamas you just crawled out of could be doused in chemicals from their synthetic fibers like polyester and nylon? Polyester and nylon are PETROLEUM based. Xenoestrogens. Hormone disrupting without you knowing. Yep, your cozy bed might not be as innocent as it seems.
🚿 Shower Time: You’re freshening up with your favorite scents and soaps. But those lovely bubbles and smells? Often packed with parabens and sulfates that mess with your hormones. More endocrine disruptors. And ladies, that makeup and lipstick you love? They might be adding to the chemical cocktail with lead and more endocrine disruptors.
👗 Getting Dressed: That new outfit feeling is great, but synthetic fabrics like polyester, nylons and elastic in our clothes are not just bad for the planet; they’re potential hormone disruptors, too.
🍳 Breakfast: Cooking up something quick in a non-stick pan? Those convenient pans might be leaching chemicals into your food. Yikes. Teflon, PFO’s, PFA’s.
🚗 Commute: Heading out, spritzing perfume or cologne, you’re layering on more chemicals (phthalates). Even the drive to work can expose you to a cocktail of VOCs from the vehicle interior materials. (volatile organic compounds)
And before 9 AM, you’re already exposed to a myriad of chemicals and gradual poisons that can make you feel fat, weak, sluggish, and depressed. Society’s answer? More chemicals, comfort eating – in the form of fast food + drugs, and alcohol. Feeling down and off? The GP’s go-to solution seems to be pills.
But what if the real answer is simpler (and healthier) than we think?
